It’s time to take the first step and explore a career in public health.

Are you interested in exploring a career in the public health sector? Are you passionate about improving health outcomes?

The ASHM (Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine) Public Health Virtual Experience Program aims to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in field of public health.

You will receive valuable, unique insight into Australia’s leading public health agency, providing support for the HIV, viral hepatitis and the sexual health workforce. 

Whilst we encourage you to complete the tasks that interest you the most, please note they have been designed to increase in difficulty as you progress. 

This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete.

Skills Learned:

  • Develop an outline for a policy and advocacy strategy
    Identify the actions required at each stage of a policy advocacy campaign, aligning those steps with an advocacy framework.

  • Stakeholder mapping for guideline development
    Identify and prioritise key stakeholders to engage in the design and development of a national HIV guideline

  • Write an abstract for submission to an Australasian Viral Hepatitis Conference.
    Promulgating the utility of a data tool and report to inform health service delivery.
